T-400 (UNS R30400) is a cobalt-based, self-fluxing, wear-resistant alloy powder containing molybdenum, chromium, and silicon.
Its microstructure features a significant volume of Laves-type intermetallic compounds (Co₃Mo₂Si phase), which provide excellent resistance to galling, abrasive wear, and scuffing under dry-friction or unlubricated operating conditions. It also offers good high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance.
Compared to the T-800 alloy in the same series, T-400 has a lower chromium content and superior toughness, making it well-suited for the repair and surface reinforcement of wear-prone components in low-to-medium temperature corrosive environments. T-400 is a classic cobalt-based powder for applications involving dry friction and a risk of galling; its higher toughness-relative to T-800-makes it ideal for components such as valves, pumps, and extrusion screws that operate under moderate temperature and moisture conditions.

Performance Characteristics
Excellent galling resistance: Under unlubricated dry-friction conditions, the Laves phase effectively prevents metal-on-metal seizing.
·Resistance to abrasive wear: High-hardness intermetallic phases provide resistance against erosion by hard particles.
·Corrosion resistance: The cobalt-based matrix, combined with its molybdenum content, offers resistance to corrosion from weak acids, weak alkalis, and seawater.
·Superior toughness compared to T-800: Exhibits lower crack sensitivity, making it suitable for components with complex geometries.

FAQ
Q: What is MIM feedstock?
A: MIM feedstock is compound of metal powder + polymer binder. It is the raw pellet material fed directly into injection molding machine for MIM production.
Q: What debinding type should I choose for 316L MIM feedstock?
A: Catalytic debind is preferred for mass production. Thermal debind is better for small batches. We can adjust formula based on your furnace.
Q: Can I get free sample?
A: We offer trial samples for process evaluation. Please contact our sales team for sample quotation.
Q: Is 316L MIM material corrosion resistant?
A: Yes. Sintered 316L MIM parts have excellent resistance against salt water, acid and humid environment.
