304L MIM feedstock (also known as MIM compound) is ready-to-use pellet material compounded from gas-atomized 304L austenitic stainless steel powder and custom polymer binder systems. It is designed specifically for metal injection molding to produce complex near-net-shape sintered parts.
304L is an ultra-low carbon austenitic stainless steel (C ≤0.03%). Its low-carbon formulation avoids intergranular carbide precipitation during sintering, delivering excellent ductility and general corrosion resistance. Compared to 316L, 304L offers a cost-effective solution for most non-chloride heavy corrosion environments.
Core Powder Requirements for MIM:D10 ≤4 μm, D50 =8–11 μm, D90=23–29 μm. Low oxygen, high tap density and good flowability. Main industrial production routes: Gas atomization, Water atomization, Water-gas combined atomization.

Gas Atomization (GA / VIGA Vacuum Induction Gas Atomization):
-
High-pressure Nitrogen / Argon gas
-
Powder morphology: High sphericity; satellite particles are the primary defect
Water Atomization (WA)
-
Medium: High-pressure water (80–150 MPa)
-
Powder morphology: Irregular, multi-angular shape
Water-gas Combined Atomization
Pre-breakup by gas first, then secondary impact with water. Balances fine powder yield and particle sphericity.
Typical Applications
-
General industrial precision hardware and fasteners
-
Food processing and sanitary equipment components
-
Consumer electronics corrosion-resistant structural parts
-

FAQ
1. What is the difference between 304L and 316L MIM feedstock?
304L is low-cost general grade with good corrosion resistance. 316L contains molybdenum and performs much better in chloride, salt water and harsh chemical environments.
2. Can I get samples of 304L MIM feedstock?
Yes, we supply trial samples for your injection and sintering process evaluation. Contact our sales team for sample quotation.
3. What debinding type should I select?
Catalytic debinding is preferred for mass production. Thermal debinding fits small batch and R&D projects. We adjust formulation to match your furnace.
4.Are your 304L feedstock exportable to EU?
Yes. We provide complete MSDS and batch certificates to support export declaration and customs inspection
5.What is MIM feedstock?
MIM feedstock is compound of metal powder + polymer binder. It is the raw pellet material fed directly into injection molding machine for MIM production.
6.What debinding type should I choose for 316L MIM feedstock?
Catalytic debind is preferred for mass production. Thermal debind is better for small batches. We can adjust formula based on your furnace.
7.Can I get free sample?
We offer trial samples for process evaluation. Please contact our sales team for sample quotation.
8.Is 316L MIM material corrosion resistant?
Yes. Sintered 316L MIM parts have excellent resistance against salt water, acid and humid environment.
