Three indicators for measuring soft magnetic powder
1. Oxygen content
Generally speaking, the oxygen content of the products produced by professional soft magnetic powder manufacturers is relatively low, so the oxygen content can also be one of the important indicators to measure the powder performance. If the oxygen content of soft magnetic powder is too high, the magnetic properties of the powder will be affected. Therefore, the oxygen content of qualified powder is usually controlled within the normal industrial standard range. Consumers can pay attention to this aspect when purchasing.
2. Apparent density
The apparent bulk density is also one of the important indicators to measure the performance of soft magnetic powder. If the apparent bulk density is high, the powder content per unit volume is large. In general, some physical properties of soft magnetic powder will directly affect the bulk density, such as the size, shape, surface finish and particle size distribution of powder particles. Generally speaking, the soft magnetic powder produced by gas atomization process has a high apparent bulk density. The powder is generally spherical or elliptical, with smooth surface and no bridging phenomenon.
3. Powder morphology
Soft magnetic particles with high quality morphology usually have very good properties. Most powder particles are spherical with smooth surface and few satellite balls. The morphology of soft magnetic powder is mainly related to atomization process parameters, including alloy melt temperature, gas flow rate, gas velocity, etc. In addition, the physical properties of alloy melt also include surface tension, viscosity, density and other parameters. The relationship between the two is very close.
