BTi-5 Powder
 

BTi-5 powder (in accordance with AWS A5.8) is a titaniumbased active brazing alloy powder. It is mainly used for hightemperature vacuum / controlled atmosphere brazing. BTi-5 is a lowtemperature, highly active titaniumbased brazing powder specially designed for vacuum brazing of titanium alloys, ceramics, graphite and diamond. It is a key joining material in aerospace, electronics and special ceramic industries.

  • 880–900°C for titanium alloys
  • Above 920°C for ceramics / graphite

The minimum brazing temperature using this active filler metal is 850°C. Higher temperature improves the wettability of the brazing alloy.

Service environment: high vacuum (above 10⁻⁴ Torr) or protective atmosphere

Active brazing:

Contains Ti/Zr, enabling direct wetting on ceramics, graphite, C/C composites and diamond without premetallization.

 
 

Low temperature:

Melting point < 900°C, below the βtransus temperature of titanium alloys, avoiding overburning of base materials.

 
 

High strength:

Joint strength is close to that of titanium alloy base metal, with excellent hermeticity.

 
 

Corrosion resistance:

Similar to that of titanium alloys.
