The particle size of 6013 aluminum alloy powder has a significant impact on its performance in many aspects, mainly including the following:

 

Flowability: Smaller particle size usually leads to poorer powder flowability. Poor flowability may affect the filling uniformity of the powder during processing, such as in 3D printing or powder metallurgy, thereby affecting the quality and precision of the product.

 

Sintering performance: Finer particle size can achieve rapid sintering at lower temperatures, improve sintering efficiency and density. However, too fine particle size may lead to over-sintering, resulting in defects such as uneven shrinkage and porosity.

 

Strength and hardness: Generally speaking, the smaller the particle size, the higher the strength and hardness of the material produced. This is because fine particle size can increase the number of grain boundaries and hinder dislocation movement, thereby strengthening the material.

 

Ductility: Coarser particle size may make the material have relatively good ductility. Too fine particle size sometimes leads to reduced ductility of the material.

 

Surface quality: Powders with uniform and smaller particle size can produce products with smoother surfaces and higher quality.

 

Corrosion resistance: The size and distribution of particle size affect the microstructure of the material, which in turn affects its corrosion resistance. A uniformly fine particle size generally contributes to improved corrosion resistance.
